The Village
well you guys must have seen the movie called "The Vilage" directed by Manoj K Shyamalan.I am a great fan of Shyamalan's work.I have seen all his feature films save "Lady in the water".Of all the films he has done i like "The Village" the most.Ya i know that u wud be shocked coz its one of the most underrated works.
I guess its mainly because most of them were not able to understand the "The Village"story.Its a story which has been daringly concieved.Its close to my heart because I have always felt myself if something like this can happen.
It looks like a period story which it is not.Thats the beauty of the story.The village is a place which consists of a few number of families.They don go beyond their village coz they are of afraid "Those they dont speak off".Its a superb setting for a mystery movie.And everybody lives happily untill the Hero is stabbed and the medicine has to come from outside the village.The blind heroine takes up the task.And finally after all odds she does go to the so called town which is nothing but a Gaurd office.they are shocked to see the female wearing a dress as if she has landed form yester years.Thats the catch.So in actual they are not living 19th century.They are actually living in 21st century.
Why???COz its an idea of a billionaire who has lost his brother and similarly lots who have been affected by the crimes of the society.They all decide to go back to the past where the society was free from crimes.So they get a huge land and they bribe the govt of america to declare it as a protected sanctuary where human will not be allowed and planes wud not even fly over.So it typically means they have gone back in the time.All to give their near and dear ones a peacefull life.
This is absolutely brilliant.But it has not been appreciated.I firmly believe that it is because they were not able to understand.
I wish i lived in such a village coz i always long for that simple and peacefull life where humans were much social than they are now.
