the pursuit of happyness
I happened to see this movie last friday.I went with a lot of expecation because i am a fan of will smith and besides that i had read reviews about the movie and was just waiting to get released.
I will have to say that the movie exceeded my expecatations by a large distance.It is one of those movies which you will never forget.Such has been the impact of the movie.
It is based on real life story of Chris Gardner's rags to riches story.Though there has been some slight changes in movie adaptation but mostly it has been the same real story without any attempt to dramatise that.The movie goes like the chapters in his book with Chris narrating it.It talks about the life of a sales person Chris and how he struggles to keep things better but finds it difficult to do so.It talks about the dissappointment in his life and how he tries hard to turn it around for himself and his family.But his wife slowly starts losing hope in him and when he says he wants to become a stock broker and become an intern simulataneously selling his product,she decides to end their relationship.
But being abandoned by his father ,Chris is so close to his son that he does not want her to take him.So he keeps the son with him.Meanwhile he goes broke and ends up in jail when he has got the interview for Internship.But still manages to pull it off coz of his wit.
He and his son struggle and pass through a tough time.But still the Kid beleieves in his father.And finally he gets selected as the broker for that co by topping the course.There ends the movie.
But lot of scenes are really moving.The scene how he says that the machine which he tries to sell is a time machine to his son and makes him believe that Metro Toilet is actually a cave and they are cavemen.After the kid sleeps and ppl hit the door,he cries in silence about their plight.And how struggles to get 14 dollars he gave his friend when he is broke coz that means a lot to him.
And the icing of the cake is the scene is the way he reacts when he is told that he has got the job.He has no one to share his happiness except his Son and he runs to him and hugs and the tears of Joy says it all.
I was so moved by the movie that i defintely beieve that it will be one of my all time favorites.
Kudos to Will smith,Smith Jr his kid and director.
Only actor who did not seem natural was thandie newton.rest of them all have put up their best effort and the result is a great movie.
